Network Video Transmitter (NVT)
Network video server that sends media data over an IP network to a client. The term includes surveillance CCTV IP network cameras, surveillance video servers, or an encoder device and PC-CCTV software application.
Digital Video Recorder (DVR)
DVR - application or hardware which receives media data from NVT over IP network. The term includes hardware video recorders, software applications surveillance systems, set-top boxes with/without direct to disk recording facility, hardware and software media players, other programs.
ONVIF
ONVIF is an open industry protocol for the development of a global standard for the interface of IP-based physical security products.
Why ONVIF is needed? There are thousands of different models of NVT and DVR. ONVIF enables them to work with each other, to interact using same language. Using ONVIF protocol customer also can reduce time needed for installation and set up of NVT and DVR.
ONVIF DVR
ONVIF DVR -DVR which supports ONVIF protocol.
ONVIF device manager
ONVIF Device Manager is software DVR, which works under Windows operating system, and serve for control a NVT using ONVIF protocol.
Computer
Computer under Windows operation system where PC-CCTV program is installed.
Tray icon
or system tray icon (PC-CCTV icon in the windows notification area).The notification area is located on the taskbar and contains program icons that provide status and notifications about things like incoming e-mail, updates, and network connectivity.
If you cannot see icon of PC-CCTV program in the notification area, click the arrow next to the notification area to show or hide notification area icons.
VLC
VLC media player (commonly known as VLC) is a portable, free and open-source, cross-platform media player and streaming media serverwritten by the VideoLAN project. VLC can be used as DVR for checking streams of PC-CCTV.
